Prospect Mountain (Lake George, NY) -- July 2016

Although I hiked up Prospect Mountain when I lived in the area, when I've come back to visit I've driven up.  Usually because I wanted to show off the view, and other times it was due to maximizing the limited time I had in the area.  It was a good clear day, so there was a lot of visibility.

And I added some pictures of Lake George taken during a boat trip to, in order to give a nice close-up of the areas around the lake.

Random Shots (Austin, TX) -- Spring & Fall 2015

The pictures of the bluebonnets were obviously taken in the spring.  You can see Stoop enjoyed hanging out in the flower.  The sunrise and sunset pictures were taken in the fall.

Mount Bonnell (Austin, TX) -- April 2015

Mount Bonnell is a great look-out point to see the Austin skyline.  The drive up to the parking lot is really fun as it's a nice steep hill.  Once at the parking area, you can take the long way around and hike up, or simply take the (many) stairs.  One change since the previous time I was there was the enclosure of the dedication monument, which obviously had been damaged by vandals.

Here are some random pictures taken in Austin during August and September 2014, starting out with a beautiful sunset.

And then a couple shots from the Arboretum area.

No, that's not the Fortress of Solitude.  It's the Frost Tower.

And to round this out, some various things on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.

Mansfield Dam (Austin, TX) -- July 2014

During the massive drought we had, the Highlands Lakes north of Austin got lower and lower.  With no rain, and people using it to drink, bathe, etc. the levels got dangerously low.  Boats were no longer allowed on the lake because it had become too shallow.  Areas which had been underwater a few years ago were now exposed.  I'd come up here last year, and these newly-exposed lands were barren, so I didn't expect to see vegetation on them.  This was a nice pictorial of how the landscape had changed.

As a side note, the following year the rains returned, and refilled the lake back up to their normal levels.  Yeah, it happened that quick.  And all these exposed land masses were submerged once again.

Texas Bluebonnets (March and April 2014)

My current assignment is to write-up some witty travel experiences like you'd previously read.  A lot of things have been happening, and I've been bad about keeping this blog updated when I should've been.  And I've certainly had the time to do so the last couple months, but let's just say I'm spending as much "non-work time" as possible away from the computer.  With that being said, here are various bluebonnets pictures taken between March and April 2014 to enjoy while I attempt to get caught back up.

And I needed to have one shot of my best friend Stoop here too, showing how much he enjoyed playing in the flowers.
