Appalachian Trail Hike and Lake Placid (NY) – August 1998 & October 2000

 I originally posted some of these pictures with a travel blog write-up (and the link to the original was below).  I decided I wanted to share all the pictures I took of a particular area of point of interest, so some of these you will have seen before if you’ve been following this blog for a bit.

 I had an opportunity in August 1998 to do a day-hike on the Appalachian Trail near Harrisburg, PA.  It had been awhile since I’d done any intensive hiking, so it was a nice challenge.  The views were worth it.  Not a whole lot of pictures were taken, as I enjoyed seeing things with my own eyes.

 The second part of this entry has the few pictures I took from an October 2000 weekend visit to Lake Placid.  This was a nice place to visit, and it continues to be so.  Besides the lake itself, there’s also the Olympic venues to check out, as well as the nearby High Falls Gorge.

Whale Watching Off of Cape Cod (Provincetown, MA) – May 1998

 I originally posted some of these pictures with a travel blog write-up (and the link to the original was below).  I decided I wanted to share all the pictures I took of a particular area of point of interest, so some of these you will have seen before if you’ve been following this blog for a bit.

My friends and I had taken a trip to the Cape Cod area, and one of the highlights was going on a whale watch.  Certainly that generated the most pictures.  The link below talks about the trip, and what you see in the pictures was pretty much what we got.  Whale activity wasn’t guaranteed, although it probably would be if they were getting a cut of the profit.  Still, it was a nice day for a boat ride on the Atlantic Ocean.

Two Trips to Lake Placid (Lake Placid, New York) – January & October 1996

 I originally posted some of these pictures with a travel blog write-up (and the link to the original was below).  I decided I wanted to share all the pictures I took of a particular area of point of interest, so some of these you will have seen before if you’ve been following this blog for a bit.

During 1996 there were two weekend trips made to Lake Placid.  When a place is a short drive away, and there’s interesting things to see, it makes sense to go.  During the winter you got to watch athletes use the facilities as a training center so they could go on to bigger events.  During the fall, peak foliage time is great.  But if you up past that (as I did), the training center technically hasn’t opened for the winter events yet.  It was fun to walk around the empty places, like the bobsled chute without any ice in it.
