Exploring Wimberley and Gruene (TX) – March 2006

I originally posted some of these pictures with a travel blog write-up (and the link to the original was below).  I decided I wanted to share all the pictures I took of a particular area of point of interest, so some of these you will have seen before if you’ve been following this blog for a bit.  The link below gives more of the details, so I’m not going to rehash them here.

I was glad for that first experience with the Wimberley Pie Company, as many return trips were made.  Not as many pictures of the area as I would’ve liked, once again the limitations of having a film camera (and not a digital, at that time).  Gruene was also a nice place to visit, but Mum & Dad enjoyed it more because of the “small town” feel and the country music connections there.  Still, you never know if you’re going to find something you like, so you should explore everything.

Gonzales Historical Exploration (Gonzales, TX) – March 2006

I originally posted some of these pictures with a travel blog write-up (and the link to the original was below).  I decided I wanted to share all the pictures I took of a particular area of point of interest, so some of these you will have seen before if you’ve been following this blog for a bit.  The link below gives more of the details, so I’m not going to rehash them here.

The trip to Gonzales was fun, as that was where we first really started to explore the Texas historical sites.  And you could tell by the pictures we had way too much fun with the gallows in the jail.  There wasn’t much there, but the time we allocated for was certainly enough.

LBJ Library, UT Austin, and Texas Natural History Museum (Austin, TX) – March 2006

Again, this was back in the days of a film camera, so there weren’t as many pictures taken as I would’ve liked.  Knowing what we had in mind for that day’s trip, I was choosy on what shots I was taking.  There were a lot of interesting exhibits at the LBJ Presidential Library, and was worth seeing.  (I did go back there in 2014, but was too busy entertaining someone to take pictures.)  Since the LBJ Library was on the UT Austin campus, we walked around there for a brief period, but only really to get to our next destination.

The Texas Natural History Museum was a great find, and something I wish I’d taken more pictures of then.  On subsequent trips, the time to take pictures wasn’t there, and getting there was a pain for it being on the UT campus (and dealing with their bullshit).  Still, both places were worth going to see, and you should do so.
