Ben & Jerry’s Factory Tour (Waterbury, VT) – August 2006

 I originally posted some of these pictures with a travel blog write-up (and the link to the original was below).  I decided I wanted to share all the pictures I took of a particular area of point of interest, so some of these you will have seen before if you’ve been following this blog for a bit.  The link below gives more of the details, so I’m not going to rehash them here.

 This was one of those situations where so many cool things were coming at you, you take the time to enjoy them first, and snap photos second.  This was a highlight of the visit back north, and it was a nice drive to get there.  The factory wasn’t that big, but there was a lot of stuff packed in on the tour.  We got to try some new flavors, watch a presentation on how the whole business started, and see the machines which made and packaged the ice cream.  The machines only a single flavor at a time, and there was only two machines.  So a million containers of one flavor was made, and then it was cleaned and reset for another, while the other was doing the same.

 There were some things to see on the ground too, which would’ve been great for a picnic lunch.  The most fun of these was the Flavor Graveyard, with a headstone for a flavor which was no longer made.  The headstone had the years it was available, and a little poem about it.  My companion took a picture of the Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz (as it was her flavor), and I had to act sad in front of Rainforest Crunch for my friend Cara.  My flavor of choice was Phish Food, and there was a whole active display of that, so I was happy.

 I’m sure things have changed a lot since this visit, but it’s still something which was worth the drive to check out.

Adirondack Museum (Blue Mountain Lake, NY) – August 2006

 I originally posted some of these pictures with a travel blog write-up (and the link to the original was below).  I decided I wanted to share all the pictures I took of a particular area of point of interest, so some of these you will have seen before if you’ve been following this blog for a bit.  The link below gives more of the details, so I’m not going to rehash them here.

 This was a location I’d been to a few times before, and each time there was more things to see.  The views of the lake was the best part of the experience.  It was also enjoyable learning the history of the area, playing with things which people amused themselves with of this bygone era, and seeing the sleds which were considered “latest technology” at the time.  The fire tower was fun, as the steel frame appeared rusted and swaying, but if it was considered unsafe then it would’ve been open for you to climb to the top.  This was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Prospect Mountain (Lake George, NY) – August 2006

 It was nice to have a vacation together, and for me it was a return to some of my old stomping grounds.  Yeah, we cheated and drove up to the top of Prospect Mountain, only because we had other stuff we wanted to do that day.  Still, the weather was great that day, as you could see by the pictures.  As this place was open between Memorial Day and Labor Day, you should take the opportunity during that time to check this out.
