Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) Tour (St. Croix, US Virgin Islands) – June 2014

 I saw this on my first trip to the island, but had no way to connect with anyone to gain access.  This is not something which is actually open for tours, so when I was planning the return trip I spent some time calling ahead and setting up an appointment.  Being part of the then-current Austin Planetarium was helpful here.  The blog goes into great detail of not only what goes on at the VLBA, but my tour where I got to climb up, and go inside, the actual dish.  That was an awesome experience, which I was very grateful for.

Cruzan Rum Tour (St. Croix, US Virgin Islands) – June 2014

 On the first visit to the island, I did both of the rum tours in the same day.  Since I was back, I wanted to return to the tour which I liked better … the Cruzan Rum tour.  There was more people I was with this time, so no solo trips through the bowels of the operation, but a more standard presentation.  That also allowed me to take more pictures.  And I had eaten before arriving, so I could loiter a bit afterwards and enjoy the area.  The second visit was just as great as the first.  This was a highly recommended item to do if you visit here.

The Palms at Pelican Cove (St. Croix, US Virgin Islands) – June 2014

 As I had stayed at this place on my first visit, then it made sense to come back and stay at a place I knew, and that I liked.  I spent one morning just walking the grounds for a bit taking pictures of what the resort looked like then.  I know since I was there last, The Palms have changed ownership, but it’s still nice to see what it was like previously.  That means I need to make a return trip for some more current pictures.
