Texas Ranger Museum (Waco, TX) – March 2007

I originally posted some of these pictures with a travel blog write-up (and the link to the original was below).  I decided I wanted to share all the pictures I took of a particular area of point of interest, so some of these you will have seen before if you’ve been following this blog for a bit.  The link below gives more of the details, so I’m not going to rehash them here.

When the parents would come for a visit, we’d do some research to see what things of interest were around.  Since we were heading north towards Waco, one of the things was the Texas Ranger Museum.  It was a small venue, so it took about an hour to go through.  It was good to give historical information on how the Rangers started, and their involvement in some famous cases (like Bonnie & Clyde).  It was a good thing to check out.

Fredricksburg War Museums (Fredricksburg, TX) – March 2007

I originally posted some of these pictures with a travel blog write-up (and the link to the original was below).  I decided I wanted to share all the pictures I took of a particular area of point of interest, so some of these you will have seen before if you’ve been following this blog for a bit.  The link below gives more of the details, so I’m not going to rehash them here.

This was a good example of doing your research, and still finding new shit to see.  We thought there was one World War Two museum in Fredricksburg, but it turned out to be three.  We skipped the one devoted to the city’s hometown hero of Chester Nimitz, and went for the overall museum of the conflict.  Afterwards we visited to more interactive “Pacific Combat Zone” museum.  And there was a fourth museum being built as well, which would require a future visit to see.  See, even when you think there’s not much at a place, it’s worth going to see for yourself.  You never know what you’ll stumble on.
