When my parents came into town for a visit, one of the things Mum wanted to do was check out the Bob Bullock Museum again. My parents had been there when they first visited in 2003, and then they visited it again in 2011, so Mum figured enough time had passed. She'd commented previously that as we'd been to many of the historical places, now seeing the exhibits in the museum had a lot more context.
The first floor was undergoing some renovations, so we started in the special collections which had an exhibit on the history of the rodeo. The exhibits on the second and third floor were still open, but things had been moved around slightly since the last time we were here. One things which was new to me on the third floor was a display room dedicated to all the artists who had performed on Austin City Limits. There was a video playing on loop showing various performances. I recalled watching this program on my local PBS station back in the mid-to-late 1980's, so it was nice having those memories refreshed.
A trip to the Bob Bullock Museum is something which should be done on a repeat basis for any residents of the city. Learn the history of your region, and your state, and then venture out to visit the places referenced in the exhibits here.
