Hardly a new place for me, as I’d been here a number of times
within the past decade or so. But since
I hadn’t been up here in a few years, I was due for a return visit. And this was the first time for my current
car to handle going up the steep grade I needed to drive up to get here (which
was no problem, thanks to my car’s German engineering). There were few people present in the middle
of the day, so I was able to park right at the bottom of the steps.
Upon reaching the top one of the first things I noticed was the
broken monument had been restored. When
I first arrived (a long time ago) I got to read this item of historical
significance. On a later trip, someone
had knocked off the upper left portion, and on a trip after that the monument
was encased in a wire cage to prevent further damage. It was nice to see that fixed.
The view from the top hadn’t change much from any other
visit. First I looked to the south
(downstream) and then to the north (upstream).
I did go to various points of the plateau to try different shots, but
the view doesn’t change that much, so the pictures you see here are the best of
the vista.
