National Air and Space Museum at the Smithsonian (Washington, DC) – July 2007

My Mum took these pictures.  This is one of the main buildings on the National Mall, and it opened in 1976.  Inside could be found many pieces of history like the Apollo 11 Command Module, the Wright Brothers’ plane, and Lindbergh’s “Spirit of St. Louis.”  There was also an annex which housed (at the time) some television-related memorabilia (like the sign post from “Mash” and the Ruby Slippers from “Wizard of Oz”).  The Smithsonian has so much there, as it’s a series of individual museums, you’re best bet is to tackle once of them each day or visit.
