My Mum took these pictures. At the southern tip of Point Lorma (in San Diego) can be found the Cabrillo National Monument (which is a part of the US National Register of Historic Places). This marks the first time (and location) of when a European expedition had set foot on the West Coast of what would be the United States in 1542. It’s a small park which offers a nice view of the San Diego skyline, as well as the Old Point Lorma Lighthouse, which has been in existence since 1855. There’s a small museum there which gives more details of the historical significance of the place. No matter what your view on the actions of the Europeans who arrived here, this was still history and should be learned.
