We knew there was a museum in Texas City, so now after stumbling upon the information about the Air Force (or “Aero Force” as it was called), we really wanted to check it out. We’d seen the “phoenix” motif all about the city, and didn’t realize what it meant until we went to the museum. That symbolized the “rebirth” of the city after the 1947 disaster, which was something I didn’t recall hearing about prior to this. That was another interesting piece of American history we’d stumbled upon. See, you never know what you’ll find when you explore an area.
