From Cane Bay I just continued the exploration of the north side of the island, stopping at various inlets to take pictures. There are many squat circular stone towers which dot the landscape, callbacks to the days of the sugar plantations, and there was one on a hill with a view. It made sense for me to stop and climb up to it. I was surprised to the grave at the top of the hill. I mean all the graves on the island are above ground due to the low water-table, so that’s probably why it surprised me. Being buried on a hill I would’ve thought inside the hill with a headstone. Still, as a final resting place, it had a great view.
