Houston Zoo (Houston, TX) – May 2009

Smack dab in the middle of the city of Houston are 55 acres set aside to be the Houston Zoo, which was located within Hermann Park.  Over six-thousand different animals are present here, some in cages and some in open enclosures (depending on safety and needs of the critter).  When it’s pleasant out, the animals tend to present themselves in open to be seen, otherwise they stay in the shady spots when it’s ridiculously hot out.  Among those are birds (like the ostrich, and eagle), herd animals (zebra, and llama), and large cats (lions).  There’s also bears, large lizards, and various types of primates.  This was a great place to go to see wild creatures.
