Crown Point (NY) – June 2011

Yeah, the same opening paragraph you’ve read before.  Some of these pictures were posted originally with the travel blog write-up (original link below).  Now instead of a select few, I’m sharing just about all the pictures.  Some blurry or bad shots were removed, as well as some with others who would appreciate not having their pictures posted again.  Please be sure to visit the original blog link for more details of the original visit.

Since we were in the area, it made sense to swing over to Crown Point, on the shores of Lake Champlain.  We didn’t have time to get to go over to the ruins of Fort Crown Point (which was constructed during the French & Indian War).  That was closed off at the time, as there was a new bridge over the lake being constructed, as the old one had been demolished in a storm.  So we went over to see the Memorial Lighthouse named for the European explorer who “discovered” this body of water.  Didn’t see the famed lake monster, but there was too activity there probably for camera-shy Champ to surface.
