Meteor Crater (“Barringer Crater”) National Landmark (Coconino County, AZ) – August 2008

I originally posted some of these pictures with a travel blog write-up (and the link to the original was below).  I decided I wanted to share all the pictures I took of a particular area of point of interest, so some of these you will have seen before if you’ve been following this blog for a bit.  The link below gives more of the details, so I’m not going to rehash them here.  You’ll see that as I’d gotten a digital camera around this time, the number of pictures of an area has increased.

There were two items at the top of my Bucket List I was going to check off during this trip, and this was item number two.  In order to capture the immense size of this, I ended up taking four individual shots to capture it all (which were also stitched together to be one panoramic shot).  The blog below only really touched base on the experiences.  While some of the other visitors saw me holding the pyramid, the Native tour guide knew what I was doing.  He also commented he’d seen a white person drawing energy through a focus.  That’s probably when I asked the guide seriously if I could walk around the crater, as long as I stayed a safe distance from the edge.  He pointed out that I could, but if he let me, then he’d have to go out to rescue the morons which followed that couldn’t do it.  That was a fair statement.
